Source
Identification
Nothing
abstract about this abstract. We work with you to achieve a thorough
understanding of data sources in order to develop an efficient and comprehensive
data collection strategy. We will work with your team to interview collection
point IT professionals to:
·
Map IT
infrastructure.
·
Determine
back-up and archival procedures.
·
Identify
relevant security and password procedures.
·
Determine
feasibility of data or file storage at outsourced facilities.
·
Identify
applications used to manage active and archived data, system software and
desktop applications.
·
Identify
legacy and proprietary applications.
·
Identify
assigned computers, personal devices, peripherals and storage space for
potential custodians.
We also
help identify and evaluate potential forensic, distinctive source, and
proprietary data recovery requirements such as:
·
Source code
and application development files.
·
Scientific
and technical data.
·
Enterprise
systems and database data.
·
Live and
historical website data.
·
Transmission, copying and print logs.
·
Deleted and
damaged files and data.
Data
Control and Tracking
We utilize
a strict code of procedures for every collection. Every time. Regardless of
the nature of the collection, we will:
·
Create a
petrified version of all electronic files
before any file processing. This
helps to ensure absolute representation of the original data. For further
integrity, the petrified copy is never used in processing, review or production.
·
Maintain a
photographic inventory of all devices whenever permitted. Each
photographic inventory creates proof positive context and visual reference for
all parties.
·
Prepare a
detailed
profile of each data source (device or custodian) as part of the
collection planning.
·
Track every process
performed against a file...who, when, what.
